Hammner Barber Theatre

Cleaning a large theater like the Hamner Barber Theater is a big job.  The theater was designed with a Victorian flair to match the shopping complex next door. It was faced with brick and had four large handmade columns in the front. The theater was originally designed to hold 696 theater seats, but some were removed to make room for a larger stage and bigger sound booth.  The lobby includes a large ticket office, magic vending booth, bathrooms and refreshment stand.  The backstage areas, include several dressing rooms, bathrooms along with lots of sound and lighting equipment and the birds have their own dressing room.

I had been to their show before I started cleaning the theater and I was curious about how they did their magic tricks.  I couldn't help wondering if they had trap doors in the floor.  After we were hired to clean the theater, one of the first things I did was check out the stage for secret doors.  I can confirm that there are no trap doors on the stage and now I am even more confused about how they pull off those vanishing tricks.

We clean the theater as soon as possible after every show, which makes for a lot of late nights.  It's not good to let soda spills stay on the floor to long because the acid in the soda hurts the floor and the sugar attracts ants.  Dave, Denise and Jim are wonderful people to work for, and their show is great for the whole family.  Kids just love it.  They keep you laughing and wondering how they pull off those magic tricks.
